Melrose Humane Society also has a SPECIAL SPONSOR / GUARDIAN ANGEL FUND to help provide one year of care for an unadoptable cat in one of our foster homes...All of our foster homes have cats, that for one reason or another, will never be adoptable.  Some cats just do not want to be with people and always avoid handling....people do not want to adopt a cat they cannot pick up or hold; some cats have pre-existing medical conditions that while they do not kill the cat, they make the cat too expensive for people to adopt.  As most of you know, our veterinarians work closely with our foster homes and they make every effort to keep our costs for these chronically ill cats under control.  Melrose Humane Society does not euthanize cats just because they have a medical condition...
