We have a date for the Dog Walk this year... October 19, 2008

THIS IS A CHANGE FROM PREVIOUSLY PUBLISHED DATES....

We hope this year we will have great weather, but we know that even if it is a little cloudy we will have a great time. We will hold the Dog Walk at Breakheart Reservation in Saugus, just like we did last year...Signup for the walk begins at 10 AM. There is a $20.00 early signup fee and $25.00 fee at the gate. There is no fee if you get $100.00 in sponsor sign ups.

If you would like to sing up early, you will need to send us an e-mail letting us know how many people will be walking, and we will send you an e-mail confirmation - so at the gate, you will only have to pay the $20.00 early sign up fee. If you want to sign up early click here....

As you can see, the Breakheart Reservation is a very beautiful place to hold a dog walk. The picture above show some of the dogs who attended with their owners and some of the baskets we had to raffle off...

We have a 2008 date for our Thomas Thibodeau Cause for Paws Gala... Novemver 6, 2008 at Spinelli's Function Hall in Lynnfield, Ma. We had a GREAT turnout last year. We had old friends and new friends and people who just came to see what Melrose Humane Society was all about. We had some of the best silent Auction baskets and items that I have ever seen. We had lots of costume jewelry, a basketball signed by Bob Cousy, golf parafinalia and goodies, gift baskets for cats and dogs, a great Yankee Candle basket that I was sad to lose to someone else.....lots of great stuff. We are hoping to have such a great turn out again this year..... Here are some pictures of last year's event...

We still can't say enough 'Thank you's' to all the people who helped to make this Gala event such a success. We are so grateful for all the wonderful donations of gift cards and specialty items used in our baskets. People were very generous in their bidding and we were very grateful for their support.

For this years' Thomas Thibodeau Cause for Paws Gala, we are proud to announce that David O'Leary of Boston radio fame has generously agreed to donate his services. David has been a fixture on the Boston radio scene for many years - many of you will remember him from WBCN and as one of the original VJ's for V66 - Boston's answer to MTV. David is currently the Production Director at MAGIC and operates his own DJ Service called ATLANTIC ENTERTAINMENT. We are very pleased to have him on board and thankful for his generosity. Please think about our sponsors whenever purchasing goods or services....

In 2007, the Christmas Sing Along was be held on December 20th at Fritz's. The night was quite snowy and nasty, but that did not stop Melrose Humane Society supporters from coming out in force. We had a very good turn out and this was quite a successful fundraiser. You allowed us to be able to help still more animals....THANK YOU. To visit Fritz's website.....click here.

Our yard sales for 2008 will be held on June 14, July 19 and August 16. We need donations of goods to sell and smaller items can be dropped off at 1111 Main Street - on the porch. Dropoff for the June 14 yard sale will begin on June 1..

Our 5th Annual Giggles Comedy night on April 6, 2008 - was a great success. We had LOTS of great pizza, three comics and a Silent Auction where specialty baskets and lots of great items were offered. All our baskets were won and they provided a generous boost to the funds we use to care for our animals.

We want to say a special THANK YOU to all who attended. Melrose Humane Society could not exist without your help....

As you probably already know, Melrose Humane Society always has a booth at the Melrose Victorian Fair held in Melrose in September. We have many hand made items, new items and crafts for sale on that day. As this winter progresses and you have time to spend in the house, perhaps you would consider making some items for Melrose Humane to sell in September. We love all hand made items and knitted or crocheted items are ALWAYS favorites.
