We at Melrose Humane Society do what we can to help needy dogs and cats. The price we charge for an adoption does not fully cover the costs of rescue and shelter for an animal in need. We supplement our finances through yard sales and fairs, and special events - such as the Dog Walk, and Thomas Thibodeau Cause for Paws Gala, and Giggles Comedy night - and we are very grateful to the people who contribute items for us to sell at these events. But the majority of our financial support comes from generous contributions from kind people, like you, who want to do what they can to help us help the animals.
In addition to our regular membership, we have two sponsorship programs. We have the Special Sponsor and the Sponsor a Spay program. Special Sponsors are people who wish to make a larger than usual donation to assist MHS in its ongoing rescue missions. People who Sponsor a Spay are interested in helping us spay a female cat before she is adopted to be sure that THIS cat will not become part on the ongoing problem of overpopulation of cats.
In addition to our regular membership, we have two sponsorship programs:
Is a way to help unadoptable animals that we keep sheltered for as long as they live. Many of these animals are special needs cases, and incur expensive medical costs. Your gift can really help!
Helps us meet the medical costs of spaying and neutering cats in our care when they reach the appropriate age. All MHS cats over 6 months of age are spayed before they can be adopted. We provide low-cost spay/neuter certificates to people who adopt kittens too young to be spayed before they are adopted. These certificates are to be used when a kitten reaches 4 months of age or older. We all have to do our part in preventing more cats from being born when there are not enough homes to provide for them.
